New Zealand’s Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Cameron Brewer decided on October 5, 2026, to apply no safeguard measures on imported aluminum extrusions, officially ending the trade investigation initiated on May 28, 2026.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) determined that while imports caused injury to the domestic industry, the impact did not meet the serious injury threshold required under the Trade (Safeguard Measures) Act 2014.

The investigation applied to imports from all origin countries except Australia and Singapore, covering hollow profiles, bars, rods, and other alloy shapes. These subject goods are under HS codes 7604.21.00 00B and 7604.29.09 00F.
