The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) published a new white paper titled Reindustrialising UK Aluminium, outlining measures to strengthen Britain's existing aluminum sector and attract industrial investment.
Updated economic modeling indicates the UK aluminum industry directly contributes about £3.78 billion in Gross Value Added (GVA) and 54,200 jobs, expanding to £5.97 billion in GVA and 81,900 jobs when including supply chain effects.
To address high energy costs, processing capability gaps, and complex trade rules, ALFED proposes a government-industry partnership focusing on five strategic priorities, including competitive energy prices, higher-value circularity, connected manufacturing capability, joined-up trade and carbon policies, and strategic resilience and procurement.
